First Feather (giclee print) (color)
By (the late) Rex A. Begaye
Rex described this piece as representing the story of how eagle feathers are handled by his people. The Dine'h are very respectful to the eagle, will capture the bird and honor it for 4 days, taking only a few feathers then releasing the eagle. The first feather taken is buried and given back to the earth as a gift, thankful for the blessings and medicine that comes. Mother Earth the first eagle feather that is gifted to her. The comfort patterns reminds us of all the comforts we have come from the Earth.
