Dancing the Universe (giclee print)
"Dancing the Universe"
By (the late) Rex A. Begaye
Rex described this piece as the medicine of the dances. In the Native American culture, the dancing is a way of prayer and honoring the Earth, our ancestors and all life. It connects us with the Earth and the Universe, Father Sky. The Eagle sits above the dancer, often the eagle's feathers are worn, used for blessings, prayer and ceramony to bring them to the Creator as they fly higher than any other winged one.
The planets represent our connection to the Universe. The comet is a reminder to take care of the Earth so we do not bring this upon us again.
