The Blessing (giclee print)
By (the late) Rex A. Begaye
Rex described this piece as a Dine'h child blessing. The mother holds her child in a cradle board, Kokopelli dances above with the blessing of prosperity and fertility, behind her is monument valley symbolizing the sacredness of the land, within her blanket are the symbols of Father Sky and Mother Earth, man and woman.
Rex's pointillism pieces were usually done to the beat of the powwow drum while he was in his booth listening and watching the dancing. The drum symbolizes the heartbeat of the earth, each dot is a beat of the drum.
