Tradition (giclee print)
By (the late) Rex A. Begaye
Rex describes "Tradition" as a traditional piece representing the ceramonial way of life. The people come together in a circle to pray and bring healing to the Earth and her children. Several elements of ceramony is depicted in this piece, the lodge, the water blessing, the songs, the eagle feathers surrounding everything.
Rex's pointillism pieces were usually done to the beat of the powwow drum while he was in his booth listening and watching the dancing. The drum symbolizes the heartbeat of the earth, each dot is a beat of the drum.
